Aledo ISD superintendent to resign

Due to an ongoing kidney health challenge and upon medical advice, Aledo ISD Superintendent Dan Manning today announced he will retire effective July 1. He will continue to lead the district through the remainder of the school year without interruption.

The announcement today allows the AISD school board several months to conduct a search for the district’s next superintendent to be selected and in place before the start of the 2013-2014 school year.

Mr. Manning said, “For three decades, being an educator has been the professional passion of my life. I believe education is the gateway for every child to achieve their full promise as a human being, and I am proud to have had the opportunity to influence the lives of children and those who work with children.”

AISD School Board President Bobby Rigues noted that Mr. Manning’s contract was unanimously approved for two additional years at the January school board meeting. “He has proven to be an outstanding leader and superintendent for Aledo ISD,” Rigues said. “His dedication to this district and his leadership abilities will be greatly missed by many, yet we wish him well.”

In a message to AISD teachers and staff, Mr. Manning said, “It has been a tremendous privilege and honor to serve the children, staff and families of Aledo ISD. What a great district we have, and all of you are so critical to what makes it great. Keep up the great work you are doing to take Aledo ISD ‘to the next level.’ There is no job more noble than one that positively influences the lives of children.”
