John & Jane Elders

celebrate 63rd anniversary

John and Jane Elders of Weatherford, Texas, will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary Sept. 8, 2008. The couple were wed Sept. 8, 1945.

Jane graduated from Weatherford High School and attended Weatherford College. She was employed with Dr. Smith in Weatherford.

John graduated Millsap High School, Weatherford College and Navy Mid-Shipman School. He also attended pilot training. John served in the South Pacific.

The couple are parents to a son, Craig Elders, and a daughter, the late Melody Elders.

Dexter & Bonnie Sammons celebrate 50 years united

Dexter and Bonnie Sammons were recently surprised with a 10-day Alaskan Cruise, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, given to them by their children.

Dexter and Bonnie were married Sept. 5, 1958 at Palm Heights Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas.

They moved to Weatherford in the mid 1960s where Dexter began teaching at Weatherford High School. Dexter was also involved with the Weatherford Girls Softball League coaching his girl's teams and umpiring many games. Dexter is now retired from Weatherford High School. He is involved with the Masonic Lodge and has been preaching more than 40 years at Authon Church of Christ.

Bonnie was also involved with softball volunteering her time in the concession stand and cheering her girls on. She was the South Main Church of Christ secretary for 30 years.

They were involved in many church activities with their daughters as they were growing up.

They have three daughters, Vickie and her husband, Randy Carter of Rhome, Texas, Melissa and her husband, Chris Willison of Weatherford Texas, Cathy and her husband, Nathan Paden of Slaton, Texas, and seven grandchildren, Kelli, Jordan and Carly of Rhome, Tyler, Justin and Dillon of Weatherford, and Eli of Slaton.
