Get yer equipment

By BRIAN SMITH

Parker County residents Tina and Tyler Child have operated Northwest Equipment Rentals for 20 years just over the county line in an unincorporated area of Fort Worth.

The business, located at 8026 Jacksboro Highway, offers a unique selection of items for rental, including heavy equipment such as box blades, tractors, backhoes, mini excavators and more, Tina Child said. While people may think the heavy equipment can only be used on construction sites and such, much of their equipment can be used by homeowners as well.

“We rent u-cart concrete machines as well,” Tina Child said. “Anywhere from one-quarter yard up to 1 1/4 yards, which is about 6,000 pounds. That can be used for a garage floor or a shed. Smaller jobs like that.”

Still, the facility also offers machinery for ranchers who may need to bury a horse or other large farm animal as well, Tina Child said.

Northwest Rentals features both ECHO and SCAG equipment sales and service. As a spring special right now, anyone can have their lawn mower ready for the season for just $55. That includes a quart of oil, sharpening of the blades and a good cleaning by mechanic Travis Spitzer, who takes great care with all equipment.

“He listens to all the engines with an actual stethoscope to make sure he’s not missing anything,” Tina Child said.

Both sides of the business have shown some spark over the last few months, particularly the wedding and party aspect, Tyler Child said.

“Rentals are very diverse always, but we’ve found that people will want to party and have a good time before they’ll spend time on things like home repair,” Tyler Child said. “No matter if its good times or bad times (economically), people want to have a good time.”

While Northwest Rentals has everything to make any wedding special, including chairs of all colors (adults or kids), beverage servers, arches, chocolate fountains, columns, dance floors and such, they also offer things you wouldn’t think of, including glasses, vases, a fog machine, staging and even a heart-shaped table.

For those less formal get togethers, the Childs offer popcorn machine rentals, hot dog rollers, towable dunk tanks, bounce houses and pretty much anything you will need to make any party of any nature special. Delivery of any item is available for an additional charge.

Northwest Rentals is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Tina or Tyler at 817-237-6767.
