WEATHERFORD - Three years ago, Drew Springer and Randy Cox of Cox-Springer Financial Advisors thought of an innovative way to support their community. Together they decided to make donations to the WISD Athletic Booster Clubs and organizations, but allow the student athletes to help determine the donation amount.
They formulated a program to donate $100 for every regular season varsity football touchdown. The program also includes a $30 donation for every three-point shot scored in the regular season boy’s and girl’s varsity district home basketball games.
To date Cox-Springer has donated a whopping $17,000.
The latest donation came recently as Cox, Managing Partner of Cox-Springer Financial Advisors, presented a check to WISD Executive Athletics Director Philip O’Neal and WISD Superintendent Dr. Deborah Cron benefiting the WISD Athletic Booster Clubs.
“We here at Cox-Springer believe in the biblical concept of God Loves a cheerful giver,” Cox said, “and we can’t think of a more fun way to give back to the school and community.”
This season’s recipients of a $3,000 donation included a $500 donation to the following booster clubs and organizations: football, Blue Belle, band, volleyball, tennis and cheerleading. Past recipients have included choir, soccer, track and baseball.
Cox-Springer Financial Advisors has been ‘On the Square’ in downtown Weatherford for 35 years.
