WEATHERFORD — Theatre Off the Square in Weatherford invites you to the 2008-2009 season opener with Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys.” Directed by Jon Kruse and presented with special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., “The Sunshine Boys” begins Friday, Sept. 5 and runs weekends through Sunday, Sept. 21.
The original vaudeville team of (Al) Lewis and (Willie) Clark, played by Lewis Schwartz and Delmar Dolbier, has not spoken to each other in over 12 years, but an attempt by Willie’s nephew, Ben Silverman, played by Wendell Teague, to reunite the team for a special TV appearance is underway. Dealing with the issues which caused Lewis and Clark to go their separate ways presents quite a challenge for Ben as he tries to coerce the two aging actors to put the past behind them and give their fans one more performance. The comedy follows as Al and Willie try some of their old routines and try to keep from doing bodily harm to one another. Other cast members are Mabel Reaves, Greg Couch, Nikki Hinson, Robert de la Garza, Chuck Hudson and Clifton McKinney.
Theatre Off the Square is located at 114 N. Denton in Weatherford. Show times for “The Sunshine Boys” are Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Dates for this production are Sept. 5-7, 12-14 and 19-21. Season tickets are available for $54. Individual tickets are $12 at the door, $10 in advance and for seniors and students. Matinee tickets are $9. For information, call (817) 341-8687 (TOTS) or visit www.weatherfordtots.org.
