WILLOW PARK –Trinity Christian Academy reached the million dollar mark for its capital campaign last month. The entire community was invited to celebrate the significant event on April 24. Night of a Million Stars was a success with hundreds of people joining together to mark this momentous occasion by singing praise songs, attending a brief update meeting, praying over the prayer stones and eating good food.
“Night of a Million Stars event was such a success we may have to turn it into an annual Spring Fling!” said Chief Administrator Dr. Marsha Barber. “I saw lots of laughter and fellowship going on late into the evening.”
The evening began with a praise and worship session led by the Aldridge Family. There was a brief meeting to update the community on the capital campaign, too. At this time, George Mercer, Major Gifts co-coordinator, made a huge announcement that changed the outlook of giving for the capital campaign.
“I give special thanks to George Mercer for making possible our big announcement – a group of local businessmen who will match our fundraising, dollar for dollar up to $350,000!” said Barber.
Over the next three months, the group will donate a dollar for dollar match on all collected donations. Following the third month, the group will donate each quarter thereafter until the $350,000 match is met.
“It is awesome to see God at work,” said Elementary principal Lyricia Sqyures. “He works in ways that we would never dream of! God wants to build this school, and He is going to make it happen His way.”
Through this matching gift, the TCA’s fundraising efforts will be accomplished even sooner than anticipated. Following this announcement, several door prizes were given out which were donated by Red Whiddon and Debra White.
Following the meeting, everyone went to the new secondary building site to pray around the prayer stones. The prayer stones were designed three years ago by each class at TCA for the kick-off event of the capital campaign.
“It was a very sweet time in which God was pleased to see our TCA family praying together to accomplish His plan,” said Sqyures.
The evening continued with lots of good food and fellowship. There were additional activities planned beyond the star-gazing and marshmallow roasting such as several free throw contests and face painting.
“A big thank you goes to our Student Impact Team who came up with great ideas, engaged the students in supporting this event and organized the face painting and free throw contests!” said Barber.
Night of a Million Stars is another reminder that TCA is growing closer and closer to the ultimate goal: a new secondary building. Today, TCA has grown into the largest Christian, college preparatory school in Parker County with an enrollment exceeding 400 students from Pre-K to 12th grade.
