WEATHERFORD — The Weatherford College Teacher Certification program (TCP) is taking applications for the summer 2010 class. Weatherford College students in the fall, spring and summer 2009-10 Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) classes are eligible for a 20 percent tuition reduction, since the Legislature provided a grant to many community college alternative certification programs.
Individuals with at least a bachelor’s degree who wish to teach junior high or high school should call the TCP office at (817) 598-6446 to schedule an appointment for a transcript review. Interested persons should apply as soon as possible, since one requirement of the application process is a minimum of 30 hours “pre-service field experience” that must be completed by April 15.
The summer 2010 PPR classes are June 7 through July 2, Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as well as an online class. July classes for all students in the TCP program are from July 12-23, Mondays and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Once an individual is accepted into a teacher certification program and has passed his/her content exam, he/she may apply for teaching positions at local school districts for the 2010-11 school year.
Applications may be downloaded from www.wc.edu/programs/teachcert.
Contact Director Sharron Lawrence at (817) 598-6446 for additional information and to schedule appointments for transcript reviews and interviews.
