Community leaders locked up for MDA
WEATHERFORD – The Muscular Dystrophy Association has issued fun arrest warrants for many Weatherford executives and community leaders. As members of the area’s “Most Wanted”, these jailbirds are going to be “Locked Up” to benefit the MDA.
They have all been charged with having a big heart and are heavily armed with kindness! Their sentence is to serve time at MDA’s jail site Thursday at Chili’s Grill & Bar in Weatherford on 128 E Interstate 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This is the 2nd year that Chili’s Grill & Bar has hosted the event, and this year’s jailbirds are each encouraged to raise $1,640 in bail in order to be released. MDA hopes to surpass last year’s total of over $34,000 with the Lock-Up. Other sponsors of the event include Verizon Wireless, Southwest Ford, and the Weatherford Firefighters who come out to volunteer their time. Proceeds from the Lock-Up fund research for MDA as well as services for the more than 3,000 families in the North Texas area. These funds enable MDA to provide the very best in patient care and services, including clinic visits, orthopedic equipment, support groups, and a worldwide research effort seeking treatments and cures for the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by the association.
