King named watchdog group’s Taxpayer Champion
WEATHERFORD — State Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, was named a “Taxpayer Champion” and received an A-plus rating on the Fiscal Responsibility Index by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a taxpayer watchdog group.

Center gathering socks for soldiers
WEATHERFORD — Wright Chiropractic Health Center is participating in Operation Foot Care Patrol through the AdoptaPlatoon organization. Through the month of July, the chiropractic office will collect new boot-length socks, foot powder, athlete’s food powder or cream, cooling foot lotion, nail clippers and other foot care items.

Senior Center activities postponed

City residents asked to conserve water
WEATHERFORD — The city is requesting Weatherford residents follow voluntary water restrictions to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes as they have implemented Stage 1 of the water conservation and drought contingency plan.

Fireworks ban to be extended
PARKER COUNTY — At 7 a.m. Tuesday, Parker County Judge Mark Riley will extend the local state of disaster declaration which bans the use of fireworks due to the imminent threat to life and property from wildfires.

WEATHERFORD — The Healthy Woman group at Weatherford Regional Medical Center will host a pajama party from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, as they discuss healthy sleeping habits and learn more about sleep disorders.
