Area students make HSU list

ABILENE – The following area students were named to academic honors lists at Hardin-Simmons University for the Fall 2012 semester.

Named to the President’s List were Cody L. Herrera, of Lipan, Kendall K. Hoover, of Weatherford, Katie M. Kuykendall, of Weatherford, Nicole K. Little, of Weatherford, and James H. Walter, of Weatherford.

The President’s List is composed of students carrying 12 or more semester credits who have grades of A on all courses for the semester.

HSU has an enrollment of approximately 2,300 undergrad and graduate students from 29 states and 19 countries.

  • Wiley receives Iota Chi award

    Libby Wiley, art teacher at Mineral Wells High School and member of Iota Chi, the Weatherford chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, received a $270 award from her chapter to facilitate her attending the National Art Educators Association Convention in Fort Worth March 8-11.

    STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton State University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the oldest freshman academic national honor society, inducted 124 new members during its annual induction ceremony on April 15.

    ABILENE – Nicole Little, of Weatherford, was named the Biology Department’s Holland Medal winner for 2013, the highest honor given by Hardin-Simmons University’s Holland School of Sciences & Mathematics, April 17.

    Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler is pleased to announce this year’s local recipient of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas Academic Scholarship. The $500 scholarship was awarded to Caitlin Olivia Rose, 20, of Weatherford, who is currently enrolled at Tarleton State University. She will be a junior during the fall semester and is majoring in Music Education.

  • Millard inducted into Phi Kappa Phi society

    The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce that Alisa Millard, of Weatherford, was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

    Weatherford ISD today announced Crockett Elementary School is one of just 211 schools in the state named a Title I, Part A Distinguished Performance Award recipient by the Texas Education Agency.
