Open casting call for major Hollywood film

Special to the Democrat

An open casting call will be held in Austin Nov. 3 for a lead role in the new feature film “The Road”. At this time, we are only seeking Caucasian boys, ages 7-10. For story reasons, the boy must have a thin/slight build and not be over 10 years old.

The film stars Viggo Mortensen (“Lord of the Rings”) and will be directed by John Hillcoat (“The Proposition”). It’s an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy.

“The Road” is the story of a man and his son who experience the devastation of a post-apocalyptic world — sustained only by the love that exists between them.

The film will shoot in February, 2008 with location to be determined.

No experience is necessary to audition.

Auditions will be held at:

The Clarion Inn & Suites

2200 IH-35 South

Austin, Tx 78704

The open auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 3.

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. and will be located in the hotel lobby.

Poll

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
