TOTS production of ‘Harvey’ continues onstage this weekend
WEATHERFORD — The classic story of stage and film about a big white rabbit named Harvey is on stage at Weatherford’s Theatre Off the Square for two more weekends, Friday through Sunday, Feb. 13-15 and 20-22. Written by Mary Chase and produced with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., “Harvey” is directed by Pat Dohoney.
Elwood P. Dowd is a delightful gentleman whose best friend is Harvey, a six foot Pooka and unseen by the average individual. While Elwood is pleasant and friendly, his propensity for introducing his friend to others causes his sister, Veta, and his niece, Myrtle, to come to the conclusion that Elwood needs to be permanently committed to Chumley’s Rest Sanitarium. The head of the institution, Dr. Chumley, and his associate, Dr. Sanderson, have just the right treatment for Elwood’s issue. Of course, once the treatment is administered, responsibilities will be recognized and the Harvey will disappear. Always ready to help the doctors are Nurse Kelly and Wilson, sanitarium staff members. Through a series of errors and misunderstandings, admitting the correct patient to the institution actually becomes a task as elusive as Harvey himself.
The cast for Theatre Off the Square’s production of Harvey, in alphabetical order, is Nicole Acosta, Candace Brooks, Karen Dohoney, Delmar Dolbier, Chuck Hudson, Jon Kruse, Kathy Manning, Chris Reaves, Lana Robinson, Jake Shanahan, Mike West and Erin Yount.
Theatre Off the Square is located at 114 N. Denton in Weatherford. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and Weatherford Senior Center for $10 or by calling (817) 341-8687.
