WEATHERFORD — "Don’t Drink the Water" by Woody Allen begins at Theatre Off the Square in Weatherford on Friday, March 13, and runs weekends through Sunday, March 29. Produced with special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., "Don’t Drink the Water" is directed by Darla Robinson with assistant director Walter Jones.

The Hollander family vacation in Eastern Europe during the 1960s turns into an international incident when Walter Hollander is seen taking photographs of sensitive areas and possible ammunition sites. While Hollander is merely being a tourist, a security chief, Krojack, believes the photographs to be part of a covert operation being carried out by spies. Far from being spies, Walter and Marion Hollander, played by Duncan Alexander and Laurie Jones, are a caterer and his wife from New Jersey. When Krojack, played by Nikolai Braswell, begins to pursue the Hollanders along with their daughter, Susan, played by Nikki Hinson, they take refuge in the American Embassy. Once the family is inside, the embassy staff is enlisted to devise an escape plan for the unscheduled guests to return to the USA. Ambassador Magee, played by Walter Jones, and his son Axel, played by John Sempeles, along with the ambassador’s assistant, Kilroy, played by Bobby Akers, attempt to assist the Hollanders’ efforts to return home, but with the regular activities and guests at the embassy, there are several foiled escape attempts before the perfect plan comes together. Other cast members of "Don’t Drink the Water" are Wendell Teague, Jamie Forman, Amanda Livengood, Greg Couch, Debby Herbel, Asa Smith and Karri O’Connor.

"Don’t Drink the Water" will be performed March 13-15, 20-22 and 27-29, at Theatre Off the Square located at 114 N. Denton in Weatherford. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and Weatherford Senior Center for $10 or by calling (817) 341-8687 (TOTS).
