ASB giving back

Dear editor,

The Texas Pythian Home is blessed to have the support of so many wonderful people in Parker County and the surrounding areas. For us, the old saying “it takes a whole village to raise a child” is true. We have been able to continue to provide for children in need for 100 years due to the caring, generous and faithful spirit of our friends in the community.

We would like to say thank you to all those who voted for us in the American State Bank promotion of local non–profit groups. There are so many worthy organizations that make a great difference in our community and we are honored to be considered an organization that gives back to the community. The $2,500 second place prize will be put to good use to help replace our playground equipment.

Thanks to American State Bank for allowing us to participate their “Giving Back” campaign. It brought more awareness to many of the non-profit organizations in the community that are working to make Weatherford a better place to live! Most of them depend on regular ongoing assistance with volunteers and donations in order to survive.

The Pythian Home provides a stable environment for children to grow up and become responsible, independent adults. We hope that they will someday become active members in the communities where they will live. Maybe they will make a difference in the lives of others just as many of you, our friends in this great community, have done for them.

Thanks Weatherford! We appreciate you!

Dear Editor

Over the past several months I have been dealing with the Central Taxing Authority. I was a little concerned starting out because of all the stories I have heard about this dreaded entity.

To my surprise these people are really very helpful. They explained things to me that I did not understand. Some things I did not always like but they explained why things were handled that way.

I can’t thank Rick Armstrong and Pam Henson for all the time they spent with me and all the help they gave me.

Dear Editor;

I believe the Constitution stated, “We the People”, not we the politicians, not we the corporations, nor we the religious right-wing nuts. So why are we putting up with them trying to tell us how our government “of the people, by the people and for the people” should be run?

We need to pay attention to what we really want. We elect a president, but if he wants peace and that’s best for our country, in our constitution he is given no real authority. His position is to try to get our politicians to pass bills that are good for all of us.

It is sort of like trying to get our so-called, Christians to follow the Golden Rule. They all claim to be Christians, but not many follow that rule. They are judgmental, hate-filled and greedy. Anyone with different beliefs, different skin color or is a different nationality they do not accept.

They go to church and listen to the Minister preach the word of God and the rules to live by, but it does not seem to sink in. They forget that God made this whole world for all of us to live in and he made all of us to look different and he said, “we are to love one another”, why do we not do that? He does not judge us until we are dead. What makes people think they have to right to judge anyone? Our belie’s and the way we live our lives is between each individual and God. We have no go-between and no human on this earth has the right of to judge. None seem to remember, “Do unto others as your would have others do unto you”.

Freedom of speech

Dear editor,

Do you know the difference between the conservative and those who call themselves Christians (those who hold a traditional Judeo-Christian belief and biblical world view) AND a liberal left wing socialist?

A conservative/Christian is more tolerant of people with different viewpoints than they have.

A conservative/Christian will not try to shout down those who they disagree with.

A conservative/Christian will not try to get unelected socialist judges to pass unconstitutional laws and override voters wishes.

A liberal left socialist cannot debate anyone without making personal insults to the person they are debating when the debate is not going their way.

There used to be a saying in this country — I may not agree with what you are saying, but I will defend your right to say it.

A liberal left socialist cannot say that. Liberal left socialists are enemies of our Constitutional Republic.

I may be wrong, but I do not think so.
