The mother of a 14-year-old girl and a man accused of tattooing the teen’s torso with her mother’s permission were arrested Thursday.
An anonymous tip led to the investigation and arrest of 39-year-old Brian Sporn, of Flower Mound, and 31-year-old Lydie Krenzke Mathers, of Springtown, the child’s mother, on misdemeanor charges alleging they violated tattoo regulation requirements.
Sporn is charged with intentionally and knowingly performing a tattoo on a child he knew was a juvenile, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to the Texas Health and Safety Code, a person under 18 years old may not be tattooed unless the tattoo will cover another tattoo with obscene or offensive language or symbols, drug or gang-related names, symbols or markings, or other markings that the parent or guardian believes it would be in the best interest to cover. The parent or guardian must also give consent.
The child was tattooed in a residence rather than at a licensed facility, also a violation of the law, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Deputy Danie Huffman said.
The girl, who had just turned 14 years old, had two other tattoos on other parts of her body, as well, according to authorities.
Mathers, believed to have performed those, was charged in reference to those, Huffman said.
CPS was also notified and has an ongoing investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both were arrested on warrants this week and released on bond Friday from the Parker County Jail.
