Jennifer Fadden is not “acting” anymore.
The former assistant Weatherford City Manager moved up a rung on the city’s administration ladder as a result of a unanimous city council vote Friday.
“I’m honored,” Fadden said. “I’m very humbled by the council’s confidence in me to lead our organization.”
Fadden worked for the City of Arlington as assistant director of parks and recreation and assistant to the city manager before joining Weatherford’s municipal staff. The 1995 graduate of the University of North Texas also worked for the City of Fort Worth as a financial and management analyst and an assistant to the mayor.
She was hired as assistant city manager in April, just days before then-city manager Bill Davis was seriously injured in an auto accident, nudging her into the role of city manager.
Davis’ injuries forced him to tender his resignation at a council meeting earlier this month. In his letter of resignation, Davis, whose resignation is effective Dec. 31, recommended Fadden as his successor.
Fadden’s duties as full-time city manager begin Jan. 1.
“I’ll keep looking for ways to help us become more service oriented,” she said. “We want to create a culture of good stewardship.”
