Wildfires destroy 15 homes in Parker and Wise counties

FORT WORTH — In the wake of Tuesday’s wildfire outbreak across North Texas, the American Red Cross is responding with help for the families affected by the fires.

A total of 15 homes were destroyed throughout Parker and Wise counties:

n Azle — seven homes destroyed.

n Chico — one home destroyed.

n Paradise — seven homes destroyed, one home sustained minor damage.

Families who have not met with a Red Cross caseworker or who have questions about their ongoing recovery are encouraged to contact the Red Cross at (877) 915-4357 (HELP).

Red Cross assistance is based on an individual family’s need and may vary from one household to another.

The Red Cross will work with you to help plan your recovery based on your specific damage and needs, your personal resources, and other community resources.

Red Cross disaster volunteers are available to help victims of the fires get assistance and information, as well as links to community-based resources.

All Red Cross disaster relief is provided free-of-charge.

Those seeking assistance from the Red Cross must be able to provide a valid form of identification stating a current address from one of the fire afflicted homes.

For people who would like to help the victims of the fires in Paradise, funds are being collected at the First State Bank of Paradise and donations can be made at the Paradise, Bridgeport, Chico or Runaway Bay branches.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

You can help the victims of thousands of disasters across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disaster.

The American Red Cross honors donor intent. If you wish to designate your donation to a specific disaster, do so at the time of your donation.

Call (800) REDCROSS or (800) 257-7575 (Spanish).

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
