Parker County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 24-year-old Georgia man Tuesday on burglary charges stemming from a suspicious persons complaint initiated by a Springtown resident.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies responded to an apparent burglary in progress around 1 p.m. Wednesday after witnesses saw a man and woman behind a vacant home for sale in the 7000 block of West Highway 199 in the Agnes Community west of Springtown, and believed the pair were breaking into a storage building at the premises.
According to Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Arnett, witnesses observed the male suspect using a hammer to dislodge a locked hasp on the building and the female suspect hiding a large hand tool in the grass.
Witnesses obtained the description of the suspects’ vehicle and reported their license number to the Sheriff’s Communications Center.
According to Arnett, the suspects left the area, but were detained by Springtown Police a short time later.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and questioned the pair regarding their activities and conducted a subsequent search of their vehicle.
During the search, deputies located a Skil Router, a Hitachi Grinder, a Wagner Airless Paint Sprayer with an assortment of spray hoses. Also found in the search was a claw hammer believed used in the offense and a small quantity of marijuana.
Deputies were able to locate the property owner through a local realtor who identified the power tools believed stolen in the offense.
Arrested in the investigation and charged with burglary of a building and possession of marijuana was Aaron Clane Boney.
Boney is currently in custody at the Parker County Justice Center in lieu of $8,500 bail.
Sheriff’s investigators expect to charge his female accomplice in the case later this week.
Fowler said the case would be referred to the grand jury.
