TXU, TNS join to aid electric customers

WEATHERFORD — In order to aid Wise, Palo Pinto, Parker, Hood, Erath, Somervell and Johnson County residents most in need of assistance, TXU Energy and Texas Neighborhood Services have joined forces to help customers facing unforeseen financial hardship keep their electricity on.

Throughout 2008, TXU Energy will provide the social service agency with approximately $30,000 to help low-income customers with temporary bill-payment assistance.

“Texas Neighborhood Services is honored to have TXU Energy as a corporate partner in providing utility assistance to the customers of North Central Texas,” said Brad Manning, executive director of Neighborhood Services, Inc. “Without funding support from caring organizations such as TXU Energy, fellow citizens would have gone without a valuable resource and been unable to care for their families. The support from TXU Energy allows Texas Neighborhood Services to provide help to those who need it.”

The $30,000 is a combination of customer and employee donations in this area, matched by a company contribution of a ratio of $5 to every $1 locally donated.

The $30,000 is a representation of the amount of funds Texas Neighborhood Services will receive throughout 2008.

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
