About a dozen east county burglaries were reported to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office last week.
Sheriff’s personnel said at least 10 of them occurred in Aledo and appear to be connected.
Nine of the break-ins were reported in the 100 block of Bent Tree Court. Two additional burglaries happened in the 100 block of Old Tunnel Road.
Deputies said the suspects apparently entered three residential garages stealing various personal items from vehicles parked inside and from another vehicle parked in a residential driveway at another address.
Deputies said the burglars likely gained access to the homes through unsecured doors.
A rear sliding window was pushed out of a vehicle parked in the driveway of one of the homes.
Bent Tree is a gated housing addition near FM 1187 off Kelly Road. Some residents reported hearing dogs barking between 2 and 4 a.m. Wednesday, when officials believe the first burglaries occurred.
Deputies were also called to Gravelco in the 100 block of Old Tunnel Road, where they learned an office was hit.
The front door of the business appeared to have been kicked in. Another vehicle near Gravelco was also burglarized with its passenger window broken out.
Wallets, credit cards, drivers licenses, checkbooks, a cell phone, $100 in cash, a camera, lap top computer, a computer hard drive, assorted tools and drills, an air compressor and two shotguns were reported stolen in the spree.
Investigators said they are actively working on the case, but had few leads as of Friday.
“We strongly suggest residents remove all personal items from their vehicles and lock them to deter would-be burglars,” said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. “Keeping windows, garages and homes secure is wise as well.”

Drink, drive, go to jail
With the final weekend of summer rolling in, police and sheriff’s officers are rolling out on the streets in search of drunken drivers.
Officers with the Weatherford Police Department have been stepping up their patrol duties since Aug. 20, and will continue through Sept. 6, as part of the Drink, Drive, Go to Jail campaign.
“There hasn’t been any significant increase in DWIs over the last few years,” Cpl. Wendy Field said. “[But] we will have increase patrol during the weekend and holiday.”
