A Granbury man was arraigned Wednesday morning in Parker County for two child sex charges.
Aaron Timothy Ooten, 29, of Granbury, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact.
The offense date was listed as Sept. 15, against a 4-year-old female.
The offense occurred on the county line, where a Hood County District Attorney’s investigator initially investigated the case. After determining the incident occurred in Parker County, Ooten was indicted by the Parker County grand jury Dec. 17. He was arrested Dec. 23, and as of press time, remained in jail on a $150,000 bond.
He will stand trial in Parker County in the 415th District Court under presiding Judge Graham Quisenberry.
Ooten’s pretrial date has been set. Feb. 5. Plea negotiations begin March 3, and his trial date was set for March 23.
Parker County Assistant District Attorney Robert DuBoise will be prosecuting the case.
“If convicted of the aggravated assault against a child charge, Mr. Ooten faces five to 99 years or life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine,” DuBoise said. “If he is convicted of the indecency with a child by sexual contact charge, he faces an additional two to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.”
During Wednesday’s arraignment, Ooten requested a court appointed attorney, which was approved by Quisenberry. As of press time, Ooten had not been assigned a defense lawyer.
Robert Young, Hood County investigator, did not return the Democrat’s calls for comment.
