When Ron Mayberry was accepted into the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse in 1999, it sparked a dream in his daughter’s heart. Since that time, Megan has hoped to someday be the PCSP Sweetheart.
Serving now as the 2008-09 sweetheart, 17-year-old Megan said she loves the opportunities the position has opened for her.
“I like the Posse a lot, and I’m really glad I got this chance,” she said. “I ride in all the parades and rodeos that the Posse goes to, and I really enjoy it.”
Megan said the posse members watch out for her, and that sentiment was echoed by her father.
“They put her up on a pedestal,” he said. “They really take care of her.”
In August, Megan will begin her senior year at West Academy in Fort Worth. She said she’d like to attend Weatherford Cosmetology School after she graduates.
