Two killed, one injured in head-on

WEATHERFORD —

Two people were killed in a head-on collision early Monday morning on State Highway 199, west of Springtown.

The wreck occurred about five miles west of Springtown shortly before 7 a.m. when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, according to DPS.

A 2008 four-door Honda driven by 29-year-old John Scott Van Dyke, of Killeen, was traveling westbound when, for an as yet undetermined reason, the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck an eastbound 2004 Hyundai SUV head-on, Trooper Lonny Haschel said.

Van Dyke and the Hyundai passenger, 45-year-old Robin Anthony, of Springtown, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, 47-year-old Michelea Stephens Adams, was transported to Wise County Regional Hospital. She was reported to be in stable condition with a broken arm.

Neither Van Dyke or Anthony were believed to be wearing a seat belt, according to DPS. Adams was wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is ongoing, Haschel said.
