In the first fatal wreck in Parker County during 2013, a Parker County man died after his motorcycle struck a tree late Tuesday south of Weatherford.
Michael Todd Grandstaff, 42, a bartender, was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after midnight this morning, according to DPS.
The vehicle was traveling north in a 40 mph speed limit area on Tin Top Road when it left the roadway, crossing the east bar ditch and struck a tree, Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Rozzell said.
The cause of the wreck was still under investigation, according to Rozzell.
Grandstaff was not wearing a helmet at the time, Rozzell said.
Witness Lauren Thomas told the Democrat she called 911 after she was the first one to arrive at the scene. Grandstaff was wearing a helmet and it was still on and intact, according to Thomas.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death an accident due to multiple blunt force injuries as a result of a moped-fixed object collision.
