Danie M. Huffman wdreporter2@yahoo.com About 35 grams of methamphetamine was confiscated during the execution of a warrant in the 70 block of Greenbranch Road in north Parker County. Sunday, Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes Unit investigators carried out an outstanding felony warrant for Walter Christopher Beard, 30, of Lipan. Beard was wanted for possession of a controlled substance charge out of Tyler, Texas, in Smith County. Arrest affidavits stated unit investigators made entry into the residence and arrested Beard and also detained three others for various drug charges after observing narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view. Those arrested included Beard, Amber Danielle Burchfield, 30, of Azle, and Carl Ray Gumfory, 53, of Weatherford. Investigators said when they saw the one and one-quarter ounces of suspected methamphetamine, they also observed digital scales, meth pipes and numerous plastic baggies, and obtained a search warrant for the premises. During the execution of the search warrant, unit members recovered about 31 grams of the suspected substance believed to be in Beard’s possession and an additional four grams believed to belong to Burchfield and Gumfory. Beard was transported to the Parker County Justice Center where as of press time, he remained in custody. He was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, under 200 grams. And with the Smith County warrant for possession of a controlled substance, his bond was set at $72,000. Also as of press time, Burchfield remained incarcerated on charges of possession of controlled substance, under four grams. Her bail was set at $10,000. Gumfory remains in custody on charges of possession of controlled substance, under one gram. His bail was set at $5,000. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said each of the cases would be routinely referred to the grand jury after lab analysis of the suspected meth is completed.

Wildlife volunteers needed
Like any other mother, Donna Robinson has pictures of her “babies” on her phone.
“Let me show you,” she said eagerly. “I’ve got lots of pictures of the kids.”
She scrolls through the photos — there’s one of a squirrel with milk on its mouth after a feeding. Oh, there’s a cute one of two tiny possums looking over her shoulder as she feeds another “baby.” Aww, there’s the group of four raccoons named after the Beatles: Ringo, Paul, George and John.
Ok. She’s not your “ordinary” mom. -
Water woes on floodplain in Weatherford
When Wendy Walling purchased her home in the Briarwood subdivision off of Sante Fe Drive in the mid-1990s, her son could easily jump from one side of the small creek behind the home to the other.
“My son was in fourth grade (when we moved in) and he could actually jump across the creek,” Walling said.
By 2007, however, Walling said the width of the creek had begun to expand.
“(The creek) can hold water now and before it never could,” Walling said. - DPS: Motorcyclists didn't see slowing truck

Weatherford junior to perform with All-State choir
When she was a little girl, Cassandra Kirby used to climb up next to her grandmother’s big fireplace and sing songs during the holiday get-togethers.
While she has a reserved and polite personality, recalling these memories makes a big smile break out onto Kirby’s face.
Get her talking about songs and suddenly she’s effusive and happy. -
