WEATHERFORD —
Weatherford council members will be setting parameters for residents who wish to discuss non-agenda items during a work session before Tuesday’s council meeting.
The session is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. At the last council meeting June 26, the council adopted updated Rules of Procedure for all its council, Municipal Utility Boards and all other city committees. Changes were made, such as allowing two council members and not three to bring forward an agenda item. The concept of allowing citizen comment on non-agenda items was originally removed from the discussion but Councilwoman Heidi Wilder suggested allowing comments but with some parameters.
Councilman Jeff Robinson said bringing non-agenda items to the council is a great idea provided it’s not used as a method of heckling. It was Robinson’s idea to have the work session before the next council meeting. Councilman Waymon Hamilton said not being able to respond to questions on non-agenda items makes the city look non-responsive.
Under the new rules items can be changed and taken out as the council sees fit without having to change an entire ordinance.
During the 6:30 p.m. meeting, council members will host a public hearing and consider a zoning change from Planned Development to One-Family Residential. The item was reviewed before the Planning & Zoming Board which unanimously recommended approval.
Consideration on a Statement of Intent to Change Rates by Texas Gas Service will also be discussed. the City had considered the matter on June 26, but opted to table the matter in need of more information.
The public is invited to attend.
