Five restaurants passed their annual inspections with perfect scores while two other food establishments failed and were required to be re-inspected in December.
Juan Seguin Elementary School, Weatherford High School Cafeteria, Weatherford High School Convenience Store, J & J’s Smoothie Company and Love’s Retail No. 273 all receieved perfect scores of 100.
Establishments requiring a second inspection included Iron Skillet on Santa Fe Drive and AMT Food Mart No. 2 on Mineral Wells Highway.
Iron Skillet received a 78 during its Dec. 5 inspection.
“There were some repair and maintenance issues that had to be addressed,” Manager Bonnie Chapman said. “We appreciate the opportunity to get things corrected and Angel (Smith, consumer health inspector) does a really good job.”
Iron Skillet received an 89 during its second inspection on Dec. 19.
AMT Food Mart No. 2 received a 76 during its first inspection on Dec. 16.
A message left for the owner of AMT was not returned by deadline Wednesday. The store received an 87 during its second inspection on Dec. 27.
Health inspections are completed at least on an annual basis at the more than 200 food service establishments in the city. These include restaurants, day care kitchens, schools, grocery stores, nursing homes and convenience stores.
Businesses scoring between 71 and 79 must be reinspected in 10 days. Those that receive scores lower than 71 must be reinspected in 48 hours.
Demerits can include things such as problems with time and temperature regulation, which could lead to five points subtracted; personnel issues, which could lead to four points subtracted; as well as other handling and source requirements that vary in the number of points subtracted.

Sheriff, judge at odds over mailer
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler sent out a statement and automatic phone calls across the county Wednesday saying he did not endorse incumbent 43rd District Judge candidate Trey Loftin, following a mailer sent by the judge’s campaign that included a quote from Fowler.
