WEATHERFORD — Staff Report
Parker County Sheriff’s Investigators have one man in custody in connection with an aggravated robbery case last week in Azle, in which a man was beaten with a pistol and robbed inside his residence.
Sheriff Larry Fowler said the suspect was identified as Patrick Cox, 27, of Watauga.
Cox was stopped late last week by Watauga officers on traffic violations and is currently being held there. Parker County Sheriff’s investigators expect Cox to be extradited to Parker County on the aggravated robbery charges.
“We have obtained evidence linking the suspect to the crime and another arrest is pending for an accomplice,” Fowler said.
The disabled victim reported two men entered his home, pistol-whipped him and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, fleeing the scene around 10:30 p.m. Monday. The man’s victim’s canine assisting German shepherd, “Major,” was shot and killed during the incident.
A family member of the victim chased the men in a pickup truck until she was fired upon by the suspects, striking her vehicle.
Due to the ongoing investigation, further details are being withheld. According to the Sheriff’s Office, details will be made public as the case unfolds and the investigation allows.
