Annetta South mayor hospitalized

WEATHERFORD —

Annetta South Mayor Gerhard Kleinschmidt, who fell ill while visiting Germany in September, recently returned to the United States but is now a patient, in a Dallas hospital, according to Dana Lawler, city secretary for Annetta and Annetta South.

“I have spoken with his wife, and he is definitely going to get well,” Lawler said, “but he is going to have to go through some rehabilitation and will not be able to attend the [city council] meeting in December.”

Kleinschmidt has been mayor of Annetta South since 2000 or 2001, she said.

During his absence, Mayor Pro Tem William Gordon, who began his service to the city council in 1995, has acted as mayor.

Gordon said a quorum has been present at meetings, and the city council’s agenda has not been affected by Kleinschmidt’s absence.
