PARKER COUNTY —
It was a tight race between rancher and business owner Larry Walden and police officer Gary Carter for Republican Parker County Commissioner Precinct 3 representative but Walden won in the end with 1,564 votes, totally nearly 54 percent.
“I’m very please with the voter turnout,” Walden said. “It’s been a long, long and very nerve wracking day and a long campaign. I’m glad that it’s come a close.”
Walden will face Sandra Harrison in the November election for the position.
“I look forward to race in November against my Democratic opponent,” Walden said. “I’ll be preparing for that.”
Sheriff’s deputy Joe Harris Jr. beat out incumbent Lowell Moss, who has held the Precinct 2 constable position for seven years, with 1,103 votes to Moss’ 900 votes.
Harris said he was excited and wanted to thank all those who have supported him.
“I’m honored to have the confidence and trust of the citizens of Precinct 2,” Harris said, adding he planned to do everything he said he would do.
Former TABC agent Scott Jones beat his oppponent, business owner Mike Montgomery, for the Precinct 4 constable candidate position.
“I’m overwhelmed,” Jones said. “I’m very excited and looking forward to going to work. I want to thank all those who supported me, I couldn’t be happier.”
Neither Jones, nor Harris face a Democratic challenger in November and are expected to take office in January.
