Man arrested for allegedly endangering child during assault

Parker County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Weatherford man Thursday for endangering a child, assault of a family member and criminal mischief.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies responded to the incident in the 4700 block of Brazos Circle around 6 p.m. Thursday.

The complainant reported the suspect, identified as Jameel Lee Major, 32, struck her vehicle with a baseball bat while she and their child were inside the car. She reported Major physically assaulted her then “rammed” the rear of her vehicle with his car, stemming from an argument over money.

She also reported Major left the scene and as she attempted to leave with the 7-year-old female, then returned with a bat and repeatedly struck her vehicle, denting the hood and shattering the driver’s side rear window and rear windshield while she and her daughter were inside. Sheriff’s reports indicate while Major struck the vehicle, shards of glass flew in the direction of the young girl, who was occupying the back seat and witnessed the incident.

The complainant suffered minor injuries to her chest and toe. The child was not reported as injured.

Major was arrested without further incident. He was booked into the Parker County Jail on charges of abandoning/endangering a child, assault with bodily injury family violence and criminal mischief.

As of Friday morning, Majors remained incarcerated. His bond had not been set. The case will be filed with the Parker County Attorney’s and District Attorney’s Offices for consideration of prosecution.
