Woman found, arrested in knife attack

By CHRISTIN COYNE

A suspect in the early Wednesday morning stabbing of a 42-year-old Parker County woman was located and arrested later Wednesday evening on a warrant for attempted murder, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

Laura Anne Cloy, 27, was taken into custody in the area of a Mineral Wells hotel Wednesday evening by the Weatherford-Parker County Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, Deputy Danie Huffman said.

Law enforcement officials say she repeatedly stabbed a woman with a knife.

Cloy’s bond was set at $100,000 on the charge, according to jail records.

The 42-year-old woman was flown to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth from Weatherford Regional Medical Center for her injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both JPS and the sheriff’s office said they could provide no update on the woman’s condition.

Authorities received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. from the 100 block of Horseshoe Drive in Western Lake Estates reporting a stabbing, the sheriff’s office reported.

Witnesses said the woman told the 27-year-old female suspect to leave the premises when an argument broke out, according to the sheriff’s office.

They reported hearing the 42-year-old woman scream, seeing the suspect make “slashing motions” and watching the resident fall to the floor.

The woman was reported to be bleeding heavily from cuts to both forearms.

Witnesses transported the woman by personal vehicle to Weatherford Regional Medical Center, where she was airlifted.

Huffman said she did not know what the relationship between the two women is or why Cloy was told to leave the property.
