Man arrested for beating grandfather

PARKER COUNTY — A man was arrested, after authorities say, he punched, choked and kicked his 78-year-old grandfather after knocking him to the ground.

Hyland Miles Mullins, 19, of Fort Worth, was arrested Monday night on a charge of injury to the elderly with intent to cause bodily injury - family violence, a third degree felony, and, as of Wednesday evening, was being held on $15,000 bond.

Parker County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Mineral Wells Highway around 7 p.m. Monday, where a man reported his grandson attacked him at the barn, causing him pain and injury.

The complainant reportedly said Mullins struck him in the left eye, choked him and kicked him after knocking him to the ground.

The deputy observed a laceration above the man’s eye, abrasions around his neck, as well as soiled clothing, according to his probable cause statement.

The deputy located Mullins in the house and asked him what happened.

Mullins reportedly told the deputy that his grandfather called him a liar so he “tackled” him to the ground.

The complainant also requested a protective order, according to the deputy.
