An early morning two-vehicle crash last weekend resulted in the death of a teen driver.

Department of Public Safety Sgt. Lonny Haschel explained troopers responded to a crash about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Farm-to-Market Road 1821, less than 2 miles north of Mineral Wells.

He said Joshua Snell, 18, of Mineral Wells, was driving a 2003 Ford pickup truck south along FM 1821 when, for an undetermined reason, he drifted into the northbound lane.

Haschel said a 2008 Peterbilt semi-trailer rig driven by Wesley Hanks, of Bryson, was traveling north and struck Snell’s vehicle in the right passenger door.

According to DPS reports, both vehicles caught fire and burned. While Hanks was not injured in the crash, Snell died at the scene, Haschel added.

As of Monday afternoon, he said the crash remains under investigation.

Snell is the son of Parker County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Patrick Snell.
