Parker County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to approve authorization to begin advertising bids for transportation projects.

The projects, Church Road from FM 730 to FM 1886 and Pojo Road from South Hwy 199 to Holbrook, were okayed by a 3-0 vote with Judge Mark Riley absent due to illness and Commissioner John Roth absent.

The bids will open Nov. 10 and a decision on the contractor may come as soon as Nov. 23. The court approved for the purchasing agent to advertise project bids as necessary to expedite the process.

Dwain Brown from Freese and Nichols engineering firm gave an update on the transportation bond and said construction projects are “in a very good place,” He said a more indepth update will be presented next session.

Last Thurday the firm held a road briefing on the widening of FM 1187 for Aledo residents. Commissioner Jim Webster said people are pleased with the current projects.

“Overall the public is very happy with the expansion and we’re just tickled that it’s getting done,” he said, “It’s bond money in action and the citizens know the benefits.”

Other items on the agenda included items of county property which the court approved to be declared as surplus and sold in the next online auction.

The auction will run from Nov. 12 to Nov. 30 and includes three vehicles, computer equipment, and auto body pieces.
