Parker County Commissioners Court will hold a regular agenda meeting Monday at 9 a.m. to begin the process of appointing board members to the new Emergency Services District No. 7.

The formation of the district, which crosses precincts 2 and 3, was approved by voters in last week’s election.

Precinct 3 Commissioner John Roth said Monday’s meeting will start discussions on how to appoint members to the board.

“Basically we’re just going to talk about it. We can’t really do anything until we certify the vote on Thursday,” Roth said.

The court has scheduled a special agenda meeting to canvass the results of the Nov. 3 election.

In the past, Roth said the court has taken written requests from people interested in serving on the board, but there is no urgency getting people appointed.

“They’re not setting a tax rate this year,” he explained. “That’s already been done. [The new board] will just get together and begin to organize how to operate. They won’t be under a time crunch.”

The special agenda meeting begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, at the courthouse.
