WEATHERFORD — Parker County’s Office of Emergency Management in collaboration with the Parker County Hospital District and the local health authority has obtained an initial allotment of H1N1 vaccine to be disbursed to high priority groups, according to a release from the office of County Judge Mark Riley.
Parker County has initially been provided a very small allotment of the vaccine and is working to provide the most effective use of the available vaccine.
Due to this initial limited supply of vaccine, the Parker County Hospital District is following CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations that the following priority groups receive the vaccination until the availability increases: Health care providers and first responders, pregnant women and household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months, children 6 months through 4 years and children and adolescents age 5 through 18 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza disease.
Inoculations to the CDC established target populations will be given as long as the vaccine lasts on from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 25, at the Parker County Hospital District office located at 1121 Pecan St., Weatherford.
When Parker County receives notification of vaccine availability for other individuals the public will be notified.
