One local political candidate is bringing out the big guns early in the campaign.

With still almost three weeks to go before the first day of filing, Cary McCay, candidate for Parker County Judge has announced a major endorsement, that of Republican Mike Huckabee.

In a letter signed by Huckabee and distributed at McCay’s campaign kick-off, Huckabee’s backing of McCay is announced.

“I want all of Parker County to know that I endorse Cary McCay for Parker County Judge,” the letter stated. “Cary is a true conservative Republican, one who believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility and personal freedoms.”

Huckabee also said he has a long-standing relationship with the candidate and will campaign for McCay within the county in 2010.

“I’ve known him since I was 5 or 6 years old,” McCay said. “He kind enough to come down and help out. He knows what I’m up against and what he knows what I believe in.”

Huckabee is currently on tour promoting his new book “A Simple Christmas” and is expected to be campainging for McCay in Parker County in January.

McCay will face incumbent Judge Mark Riley in the March 2, 2010 GOP Primary.
