WPD named 2009 NCTCOG Agency of the Year

WEATHERFORD - The Weatherford Police Department announced Thursday it was honored by the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional 9-1-1 Program as the 2009 NCTCOG Agency of the Year at the supervisor appreciation luncheon Wednesday.

Jason Smith, 9-1-1 Field Specialist for the West Region presented Weatherford Police Department Communications Center with an engraved plaque. WPD Lt. Patrick Mahoney and 9-1-1 Dispatcher Leanne Dean were present to receive the award before a crowd representing NCTCOG 9-1-1 agencies.

Criteria for the award centered on areas of training, logging and maintenance of 9-1-1 equipment, TDD training and monthly test calls, dispatcher participation in 9-1-1 public education, and going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis.

“We are very proud and honored to have received this award,” Mahoney said. “It is not only credit to our dispatchers and communications center as a whole but speaks highly of the police department’s relationship with the North Central Texas Council of Governments. I think I can speak for the department in thanking the Staff members and employees of NCTCOG for their professionalism in their interactions with us. “

NCTCOG 9-1-1 represents 14 counties providing 9-1-1 service for 41 cities.
