Man shot in foot, three arrested

WEATHERFORD — Parker County Sheriff’s Officers made three arrests following an early morning shooting Wednesday.

Nicholas Henson, 25, was hospitalized early Wednesday morning for a gunshot wound to the foot.

Henson told deputies he went to visit friends Tuesday evening in the 100 block of Woodie Way, in Fort Worth, Parker County, at an apartment complex.

While at the residence, Henson reported one of the friends brought out a handgun. He said several people in the residence were “toying” with the weapon around midnight.

Henson said Justin Ryan Newell, 23, for unknown reasons, loaded the weapon, pointed it in his direction and shot him in the foot. Henson was taken to Baylor Southwest in Fort Worth where he received medical treatment and was later released.

Sheriff’s investigators spoke with the occupant of the residence, Matthew Allen Dusek, 40, who was uncooperative, argumentative and hostile. While at the residence, investigators observed a liquid substance poured on the ground and questioned Dusek about it, who stated it was poured to cover up the blood.

Newell later spoke to sheriff’s investigators, implicating himself in the shooting, saying he pulled the trigger, but believed the weapon was unloaded at the time of the incident.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the case is currently under investigation.

“Investigators believe the incident was alcohol-related and could possibly be drug-related,” Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Arnett said.

Investigators conducted a search warrant of the premises and seized a .40 caliber handgun matching the victim’s description.

Newell was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Parker County Jail. He was charged with deadly conduct discharge firearm and tamper with or fabricate physical evidence.

Also arrested were Melody Marie McCoy, 31, of Fort Worth, who was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and Dusek was charged with tamper with or fabricate physical evidence. No bonds have been set for any of the suspects.
