WEATHERFORD — The City of Weatherford Main Street Program is partnering with historic downtown merchants and businesses to launch the first annual “Home for the Holidays: Shop and Experience Historic Downtown Weatherford.”
“With a lagging economy, the greatest relief for a shopper this holiday season is finding the perfect gift for $20 or less,” stated Main Street Coordinator Kim Thieme. “Historic Downtown Weatherford merchants are offering exactly that.”
Additional incentives for shopping downtown include close proximity to home and the charm of shopping in the heart of the community.
This year, on Dec. 3, 10 and 17, numerous retail stores, boutiques and restaurants will extend hours until 8 p.m. in an effort to encourage the community to experience the ambiance of downtown.
The main attraction for the evenings will be Santa, who will be on site at the offices of Eggleston Flowers and King (102 Houston Ave.) from 6 to 8 p.m.. Visits with Santa are free and parents are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the moment.
The evening of Thursday, Dec. 17, will feature free horse-drawn carriage rides, antique cars displayed by Parker County Cruisers, balloon art and hot cocoa. Merchants and businesses will also be offering their own version of discounts, refreshments and fun.
Participating in the event are A Step Back in Time, Antiques on the Square, Arbor Lane Gifts & Interiors, Back to Yesterday, Bennett’s Office Supply, Bridal Gallery, Chicken Scratch Bistro, Colonial Art Shop, Country Pine, Cowgirl Junkie, Craig’s Music, Downtown Cafe, Fire Oak Grill, Heritage House, Horse Creek Trading Company, Jeri’s Back Home Bakery, Just 3 Days, Lady Scotland, Main Street Merchantile, Miss B’s Antiques and Collectibles, Pinto Beans, Quickprint of Weatherford, Scentimentals, Something Special Boutique, Texas Butane Co., Inc., The Red Rooster, Wild and Chic & Avon Store and Yesterdays.
