Free air-conditioning is just one of the perks at the Weatherford Public Library.
As the hot summer months press on, the library continues to hold a variety of events for children from birth to high school.
“Something for everyone,” Weatherford library director Dale Fleeger described it.
Summer events kicked off last month with a carnival, with around 400 children and 250 adults attending.
“It was a spectacular start to the summer,” Fleeger said.
Next week marks the start of the Young Adult Summer Reading Club, an program to encourage teens to get involved with reading.
“We are really encouraged by the number of young adults that are participating this year,” Fleeger said of the turnout so far.
Monday beginning at 2:30 p.m., the club invites teens aged 12 to 18 to attend an educational experience of the Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.
A special guest will be on hand to discuss essential supplies, training and groundwork in the event of a "zombie attack."
Opportunities and shows are also available for the younger crowd, including the Kids’ Summer Reading Club.
On Monday, Kelly the Clown will pay a visit to the library at 11:30 a.m. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Ambassador of Laughter will provide young patrons with a circus storytime, encouraging children to read, learn, dream and discover fun and excitement.
The library encourages those attending to also attend the Ringling Bros. circus, which will be performing at the American Airlines Center Aug. 1 through Aug. 12.
