Items involving the city’s new storm water utility, work on the city’s frontage roads and the purchase of a fire truck highlight Tuesday night’s Weatherford city council agenda.
The council will consider authorizing the city manager to enter into a professional services agreement with Freese and Nichols to update the city parcel database and billing information for the system. The agreement will not exceed $307,067, according to a staff report.
The storm water utility fee, which is scheduled to take effect in January, is based on impervious area and will be collected through the city’s public utility bill to customers. In newer residential and commercial areas inputting the impervious (not penetrated by water) area is a straightforward process with plats having been filled with lot and block information. In some of the older areas, the process is much harder because the parcel data has not been updated. Freese and Nichols will provide updated parcel data that can be correlated to the property owner for correct billing.
Monies for the plan will come out of the Storm Water Utility Fund.
Also on the agenda is a change order in the contract with Ed Bell Construction for $126,184 which will finish the I-20 frontage road project between FM 2552 and State Highway 171. Some of the items included are sandblasting and painting the retaining walls, replacing the crash attenuators on the U-turn bridges and additional sign placement.
The changes bring the final contract price of the project to $24,543,932, almost $135,000 under the original contract. Funds for the change will be taken out of the capital transportation fund.
Council members will also consider the purchase of a new fire engine for $528,500. The engine was a point of contention during budget discussions for the current fiscal year between paying for the engine in one payment or going toward a lease option.
The department will receive $35,000 in trade-in for the old engine, making the cash purchase price $493,500. The price also includes a performance bond to insure the truck until delivery.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
