HUDSON OAKS – The City of Hudson Oaks recently hosted its 2012 Year End Public Service Awards Banquet.
The annual event recognizes and honors public servants, both elected and appointed, who give of their time and talent for the Hudson Oaks community.
This year, three employees were recognized for loyal service to the community. Assistant City Administrator Patrick Lawler and Parks and Facilities Manager Danny Woolery each received five-year service awards. Hudson Oaks Police Sgt. Rick Reese was honored for 10 years of service to the city. Each member of the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission was also recognized and presented with a certificate of appreciation for service to the community.
The banquet also included the announcement about the winner for the Hudson Oaks Police Department’s Officer of the Year. That honor for 2012 was bestowed upon Officer Brian Schaechtel, who has been with the city since 2006. The award for the HOPD’s Supervisor of the Year went to Corporal Marshall Clark, who has been a member of the department since 2004.
For each of the past four years, the city has also honored employees with two awards for which all staff members are eligible. The first is the Texas Cities Work Award. It is named for a public awareness initiative created by the Texas Municipal League with the aim of reminding citizens about the value of city services. The City of Hudson Oaks gives the Texas Cities Work Award each year to that employee who is deemed to best exemplify that quality and value of city services and the high caliber customer service with which they are provided in the Hudson Oaks community. For 2012, the recipient of this award is Sgt. Reese. He was recognized for his leadership in coordinating the numerous community outreach programs put on by the HOPD, including the annual National Night Out and National Police Week Open House events.
The 2012 Shining Star Award went to Woolery, recognized not only for his consistent, diligent work in the performance of his duties, but specifically for his extraordinary contributions in preparation for and hosting of the Boomin’ 4th Independence Day celebration.
Woolery supervised the preparation of the grounds in Gene Voyles Park, including improvements to the turf, accommodation of electrical needs, event parking plans and much more.
