‘So You Think You Can Dance’ star Chris Koehl offers local workshop

Chris Koehl from season eight of “So You Think You Can Dance” will be returning to Weatherford this Sunday, Feb. 17, to present a combo master class and workshop.

He will be teaching a hip hop combo and freestyle class. Koehl is famous for his freestyle classes at the Debbie Reynolds studio in Los Angeles. There will be time for pics and autographs, too.

The workshop is 1-4:30 p.m. at Central Christian Church’s Cuppett Hall, 1602 S. Main St. The cost is just $30 early registration, or $40 at the door, for this 3-1/2 hour event. For registration information call 817-658-8887 or email extremedancecamps@yahoo.com.

Koehl is a born and raised Texan who launched his career after competing on the Fox reality TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.” Since then he has worked as a professional performer in all avenues of the dance industry: TV shows such as Glee & Disney’s “Shake It Up” as well as music videos such as Jermaine Jackson, “Blame It On The Boogie,” Alyson Stoners, “Boyfriend remix,” and various performances throughout Los Angeles such as the 2011 Premios Billboard de la Musica.

Koehl began teaching himself hip hop as a young teen and around his senior year of high school decided to pursue dance as his professional career. Although he has moved to LA to continue pursuing his dreams, Koehl also choreographs and travels to teach master classes at studios around the states.
