Elizabeth Binzer

Elizabeth Binzer, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, peacefully at her home in Weatherford and in the bosom of her family.

Funeral mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford, TX 76086. A viewing with rosary is 7 p.m. Tuesday at Galbraith Pickard Funeral Home, 913 Elm, in Weatherford.

She was the beloved wife of Carl Binzer since 1954, cherished mother of Dr. Carol Binzer, Dr. Thomas Binzer and Mrs. Tara Larson Binzer, treasured grandmother of Larson Elizabeth and Patrick Carl Binzer, elder sister of Judy (Bachmann) and Don Ellis of Virginia, and niece to Howard Bachmann of New Jersey. Bette Ann was aunt and cousin, teacher, mentor and friend to many. No one would dispute her love for and devotion to her family, and many have heard the tales of their (our) lives.

Born in New York City (Queens), she attended Queens College, now a part of New York University. Bette Binzer was a teacher by vocation and avocation and a community servant throughout her life in the 14 communities they lived. She was a faithful Catholic and enjoyed parish service and her association with Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the St. Stephen’s Lunch Bunch, the Altar Society, and the Over 60’s group since 2000. Bette also enjoyed friendships with the Trace Ridge neighbors—a family of friends.

An avid bridge and Bingo player most of her life, she enjoyed some luck, but always wanted to be an example for those watching of the importance of a faith life and educational pursuits. A quick wit, an ironically big heart, and unbounded compassion brought Bette to the center of many worthwhile endeavors and interactions with a wide cross-section of people.

The Binzer family is grateful for all of the kindness, support, love and prayers throughout Bette’s journey; especially to the doctors and health professionals for their extraordinary expertise and care, the health care sitters and Parish friends for their care and attention to her physical needs, and to those who nurtured her spiritually.

Elizabeth Ann Bachmann Binzer is pre-deceased by her parents, Dorothy and Maurice Bachmann; siblings, William Bachmann and Judy Jesberger Bachmann; and in-laws, Stella and Charles Binzer.

In lieu of flowers, please make contribution(s) to the St. Stephen’s Catholic Parish Land Purchase fund or to the charity of your choosing.
