Arthur F. Hubbard

LUBBOCK – Arthur F. Hubbard, 91, of Lubbock, and formerly of Weatherford, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the College Park Rehab and Care Center of Weatherford.

Service is 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock with Mr. Frank Falbo officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. There is a viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arthur Franklin Hubbard was born Jan. 27, 1922, to Arthur Sr. and Diana Mae Hubbard. The family resided in Graham, where young Arthur graduated from high school. Art joined the Army Air Corps in October 1942 and served his country until 1946 during and through World War II. In 1944, Art married the love of his life, Jo Ann Perry. He was a loving husband and father to four children, Stephen Perry Hubbard, Joel David Hubbard, Janet Kaye Fortenberry and Cheryl Ann Fogelman.

Art attended Abilene Christian College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an accounting degree.

Art worked as an accountant in Lubbock and in Austin for many years and in the later years of his life he worked as a substitute teacher in the Lubbock Independent School District. He was a member of the Church of Christ where he served as an elder, deacon, Bible teacher and song leader. He was a dedicated teacher for World Bible School and taught many people the love of Christ.

He is survived by his sister, Trudy Evans, of Littleton, Colo.; and his four children; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Diana Mae Hubbard; his sister, Betty Hays; and his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Hubbard.
