J.P. “Pop” Binion

J.P. “Pop” Binion, 90, of Weatherford, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, 2013, in a Fort Worth hospital.

Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the South Main Church of Christ with interment in the Spring Creek Cemetery.

Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home.

Born July 12, 1922, in Pritchett, he was a resident of Weatherford for many years. Mr. Binion was a retired electrician from Carswell AFB, owner of Binion Electric, member of the South Main Church of Christ, Stockyards Masonic Lodge No. 1244, a longtime member of the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse and a farmer in the hay business. He was also a Navy veteran and served on the USS Nassau and USS Saratoga.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Binion, of Weatherford; daughters, Barbara Binion Osborn, of Weatherford, and Janis Binion Dove and husband, Bobby, of Seminole; son, Mark Binion and wife, Myrna, of Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Lisa Osborn, Aaron Osborn, Kaleb Kemp and wife, Staci, Zane Kemp and wife, Kelly, Sadie Ratliff, Trey Dove and wife, Katie, Keely Gilbert and husband Brent, and Bailey Binion; 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Kara Kemp, Kannon, Kinley and Kyler Kemp, Trip Ratliff, Tucker Dove, and Brenley and Keegan Gilbert.

J.P. was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Iva Lee Binion; daughter, Diane Binion Kemp; brother, Linden Binion; sister, Oleene Sewell; and son-in-law, Tommy Osborn.

Memorials may be sent to South Main Church of Christ or the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse.
