Judy Konopka

Judy Konopka, 61, a resident of Weatherford since 1992, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at her home.

Service is 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment is 2 p.m. Monday in Whitewright Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Julia Margaret Konopka was born April 30, 1951, in Denton, Texas, daughter of the late Al and Margaret Hill Petty. She married Jack Konopka on Dec. 29, 1971, and they began their life together. Together they worked at Western Grass Company, which Jack owned, from 1981 to 2000. Judy loved animals of all kinds and even raised and showed llamas for many years. She was a member of the Llama Association and loved to knit and spin llama and alpaca wool into scarves she would give as gifts to her friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Konopka, of Weatherford; son, James Konopka, of Austin; daughter, Julie Sweum and husband, Ricky, of Japan; grandchildren, Olivia Konopka, of Austin, and Canyon and Sage Sweum, of Japan; sister, Ricky Lynn Baldwin and husband, Tony, of Aledo; and brothers, Jerry Wilson and wife, Denise, of Pottsboro, and James Petty of Fort Worth.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
