Karen Anne Coates

Karen Anne Coates, 58, of Fort Worth, previously of Weatherford, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, in Fort Worth.

Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Couts United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

Karen was born March 15, 1954, in Bartlesville, Okla. She was a dedicated Lockheed employee. She loved her job and the people she worked with and was proud of her work on the F-22. Karen was a passionate Texas Rangers fan and enjoyed watching the games with her boys and grandchildren. She loved cheering on her boys through the years at countless sporting events and was happiest when spending time with her kids and grandkids. She selflessly volunteered in the emergency room at Harris Methodist Hospital for several years and was a member of Central Christian Church in Weatherford.

She is survived by her sons, Grant Coates, of Fort Worth, and Keith Coates, of Dallas; grandchildren, Owen and Isabel Coates; daughter-in-law, Sabrina Coates, of Weatherford; brothers, Greg Swisher and wife, Sharon, of Bartlesville, Okla., Allen Swisher and wife, Mary Beth, of Titasville, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Brendon Swisher, Forrest Swisher, Allen Swisher Jr., Kelsi Mack, Rob Wilson, Steven Coates, Zane Coates, Jari Peltier, Donzi Boyett and Caitlin Gavin; in laws, Jaron and Sherry Wilson, Karen Sue Coates, John and Patty Coates; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, William Z. and Melva Anne Swisher and husband Grady Coates Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation.
